The Beautification Transformation Project – Contest details
Artwork Specifications
The final artwork must meet minimum size requirements of 36 inches
in height and 6 inches in width. These dimensions represent the smallest allowable scale; artists are encouraged to go beyond these limits if their
creative vision calls for it.
Within these parameters, there are no restrictions on style, theme, or artistic medium—the final piece can take any form that the artist imagines, from sculptural installations to wall-mounted assemblages or freestanding structures. Artists are encouraged to explore inventive concepts, expressive storytelling, and unique interpretations of sustainability and transformation through their work.
Artwork Materials
All artworks must be created primarily from trash or discarded materials collected within the city limits. This requirement highlights the importance of environmental awareness and creative reuse, challenging participants to transform waste into something meaningful, beautiful, or thought-provoking.
Acceptable materials include but are not limited to plastics, metals, glass, fabric, paper, wood, and any other form of refuse or debris found during the collection period.
Participants may use external materials for binding, structural support, and fixtures (such as adhesives, wire, fasteners, or frames) as needed to safely construct and present their work. However, these supporting materials should be kept to a minimum, ensuring that the majority of the artwork’s composition originates from reclaimed city trash.
Timing and Production
The entire creation process must occur within the designated team workspace. This ensures that all participants have equal access to resources and that the competition maintains fairness and integrity.
Each team will have a total of 30 days, divided as follows:
- A minimum 240 hours allocated for art creation and assembly.
- Artists will record and log time per rules of the contest
Artists are expected to manage their time efficiently, adhering strictly to these limits. No additional time will be granted, so planning, organization, and teamwork will be key components of success.
Submission and Selection Process
Prior to the competition, each team must submit a concept drawing and a detailed project plan outlining their intended design, materials, and creative approach. These submissions will serve as the basis for the initial judging round.
A panel of judges, composed of art professionals, sustainability advocates, and community representatives, will carefully review all proposals. Evaluation criteria may include originality, feasibility, relevance to the theme, and the innovative use of reclaimed materials.
Based on this review, the judges will select a limited number of Artists to
advance to the final competition and produce their artworks during the designated time frame.
